SANYO Introduces New Compact Cell Culture Incubator with Multi-Gas Control

(Bensenville, Illinois, USA December 5, 2005) SANYO Commercial Solutions, SANYO Biomedical division, has introduced a new cell culture incubator designed to control both CO2 and O2 for applications that require a precise in vitro replication of the in vivo environment.
Marketed for use in physician, clinical and research laboratories, the MCO-5M multi-gas incubator can achieve below- and above-ambient oxygen levels for specialized cell culture protocols such as in vitro fertilization where a one donor/one chamber arrangement is preferred. The incubator has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance K013701 for use as an “assisted reproduction device.”
The compact cabinet, a 1.7 cu.ft. sized interior, saves space and allows for individualized patient/cell isolation. Because of SANYO’s patented D.H.A.™ (Direct Heat and Air Jacket, U.S. Patent 5519188) construction, the unit is small, lightweight, easy to relocate and can be stacked up to three cabinets high.
To prevent contamination, the incubator combines SANYO’s exclusive Active Background Contamination Control™, an integration of SANYO technologies such as InCu SaFe™ copper-enriched stainless steel interior surfaces and the optional, non-ozone producing SafeCell™ UV lamp (U.S. Patent 6255103). Isolated from the cell incubation area, the SafeCell™ UV system safely and preventatively sterilizes the chamber interior air and humidifying water.
